About us

Established in 1987, at the world-famous temple town of Tirupati, in Chittoor District of the State of Andhra Pradesh, India, the People’s Action for Social Service (PASS) is dedicated to the service of the disadvantaged sections of the society in the drought-affected famine Zone of South India.

Registered as a voluntary Non-Governmental Organization under the State Act and approved by the Government of India to receive foreign contributions.  The PASS has been working for the all-around development of the poor, the destitute, the aged, the handicapped, vulnerable high risk, disadvantaged women and children.

Mission

PASS works for the empowerment of the disadvantaged, marginalized and vulnerable groups of the society in areas of economic, leadership, social, educational, psychological and health development.

OBJECTIVES

The development strategy of PASS centers round:

      • Conscientisation of the poor and disadvantaged through organization, awareness generation, education and up-gradation of skills.
      • Delivery of preventive health services and curative medical services to the poor in general and the aged, handicapped, destitute, pregnant and lactating mothers and children in particular;
      • Provision of relief, rehabilitation, counselling and support services to women and children in difficult circumstances, victims of certain social practices and family discord and people affected by natural calamities;
      • Promotion of economic development programmes for the poor, involving asset creation and employment generation;
      • Promotion of the concept of self-help among the poor women so as to increase thrift and saving as well as viable economic activities among them and Creation of a congenial social climate for propagating the global objectives of ecological balance and sustainable development, population control, promotion of human rights and social harmony.

Core Projects/Area

PASS is working for Women, Children, Aged, Disabled, who are Deserved, Disadvantaged, BPL, Orphan Vulnerable to High Risk by providing Health, Education, Community development, Counseling, Capacity Building. For their Empowerment, Rehabilitation and for holistic wellbeing in Chittoor (D),  A.P

Infrastructure

Having good human response –qualified, Trained, Experimental, Motivational Infrastructure, good functional adequate material, Furniture, Facilities. Good administration Financial, Technical resources/ systems, Networking linkages, advocacy with all Government, Private, NGO’s other relevant stake holders.

Coverage

To achieve the objective of the total development of the poor and the disadvantaged, PASS has deliberately chosen to work in the drought-prone backward districts of Andhra Pradesh right from its inception in 1987. State: Andhra Pradesh, Coverage Districts: Chittoor, Cuddapah, Ananthapur, Kurnool, Nellore – Coverage Blocks: 66 Mandals, Municipal Corporations, Municipalities in Chittoor District and few blocks in neighbouring district mandals / blocks. Coverage Villages:70% of Villages in Chittoor District and very few villages in neighbouring district mandals.
